8-day long cycle campaign starts today (26 February) in the greater Mymensingh city in Bangladesh to increase knowledge about climate issues and create awareness among the peoples of northern parts of the country.
With the help of Caritas Luxemburg, This campaign is organized by Mati NGO, Climate Change Network of Greater Mymensingh and Safe Bangladesh. 14 participant starts this campaign from Mati Bangladesh Head Office located on the S A Sarker Road in Mymensingh. The first day ends in Trishal Upazila. In such a way, The cycling Campaign will travel around 300 kilometers of the road through Madhpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, and it’ll return to Mymensingh.
6 international participants and other local participants, is going to organize workshops, discussions and movies showcase to increase the awareness in various institutions, including Universities, colleges, schools and government offices. At the same time, the information book and leaflets on climate are being distributed among locals.
Mr. Lenen Rahaman, Executive Director of Mati Bangladesh NGO, said, “There is a tendency of indecision and immaturity among people of our country to discuss climate change. We are organizing this kind of campaigns to highlight the impact and relation of our personal life habits and climate change. ”
This year’s climate change cycling campaign organized in greater Mymensingh is the 4th time cycling campaign program by Mati Bangladesh NGO. It will continue till March 5, 2018.
