Second Chance Education (SCE) is piloted on July 18, 2017, in the Directorate of Primary Education, Dhaka. Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal NDC, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) formally launched the program. Directorate of Primary Education has been implementing the program while Save the Children is functioning as Implementing support Agency (ISA) to roll out the program.

Second Chance Education (SCE) is a purposeful and systematically organized form of learning with a high degree of flexibility in delivery based on the requirement of educationally deprived out of school children to complete their primary education. The interventions are designed in a flexible way to overcome the barriers and challenges for which the children are not able to attend school so that they get the second chance for educating themselves.

Dr. M. Mizanur Rahma, Project Director of ROSC under the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) and Bushra Zulfiqar were present as guests of honor. A total of 100,000 out-of-school children aged between 8 and 14 from 3 districts will be enrolled under Second Chance education. It is anticipated that learners would progress at least one grade from their entry level and to proceed towards completion of primary education cycle.

A total of 4 models would be implemented by 3 partners. BRAC and Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) would work with lead agency Save the Children to implement Second Chance Education (SCE).
