The media sector media was strictly controlled in whole Arab. But the Qatar-based channel, Al Jazeera, started publishing programs on some topic that was not allowed to talk in the Arab world. Even its opinions are different from other Arab media.
Al-Jazeera has become very popular in the Middle East because of these qualities. So, along with friends, it also got many enemies. Governments like Saudi Arabia and Egypt began to think that the TV channel’s activities are harmful to themselves. They thought that Al Jazeera was supporting their opposition.
Other Arab countries did not like this Qatar-based TV channel’s Islamic view. Due to Al Jazeera, the views of criticism among the people of the two countries became totally different and it’s increasingly made the Arab rulers angry.
Over the years, Saudi Arabia and Egypt’s rulers tried their best to change al-Jazeera’s views and presentation. Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan have closed the bureau office of Al-Jazeera. Saudi Arabia also prohibits hotel renting for this channel. Now the Arab League has put pressure on Qatar to shut down the TV channel. This is one of the preconditions for stopping diplomatic warfare with Qatar.
Al Jazeera English version editor Giles Trendl says, ‘I want to say on behalf of Al Jazeera that we are confident of being here and we are committed to continuing our own journalism.’
