‘Liar Liar GE2017’ had been steadily ascending since its release late last week and rose early this afternoon from number two to number one in the digital store’s live rankings – which take into account the last 24 hours’ worth of sales.
The song describing Prime Minister Theresa May as a “liar” and calling the country “broken” has become the most downloaded on iTunes.
Liar Liar is set to be the highest new entry on the UK Official Singles Chart this week, but impartiality rules during the election period mean it is unlikely to get radio airtime, regardless of chart position.
The song features clips of Theresa May’s speeches and interviews, and is highly critical of her time in office.
