Save the Children organized a sharing meeting of SHIKHON- on December 29, 2016 in Jaintapur, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Through SHIKHON programme, Save the Children has been providing primary education for children from disadvantaged communities and learners who successful passed primary school certificate examination gathered to celebrate their successes in the auditorium of Jaintapur upazila. Tahmina Khatun, Deputy Director of Primary Education, Sylhet was present as chief guest.
Talat Mahmud, Program Director of SHIKHON reflected on achievement of the programme in reaching out hardest to read leaners in different corners of Bangladesh with the support of European Commission. Head teachers, members of school management committee, learners and guardians were present in the meeting.
‘Education model pioneered by SHIKHON helps retain learners in the centre. We want this model of education continue in this locality’- said Joymoti Rani, Vice- Chairman of Jaintapur Upajila.
