International organization Oxfam has introduced a new programme to provide essential sanitation services and facilities including emergency toilets to flood affected families of Bangladesh’s northern districts, reports BSS.
Oxfam said in a statement that the Oxfam and its partners are assessing the scale of the crisis and how best the agency can provide further help.
Oxfam and its local partners already started distributing 10 litres of water to 1000 households each per day in the different villages of Kanchipar Union of Furchori upazila, Gaibandha, said Oxfam Director to Bangladesh Snehal V. Soneji.
Oxfam’s involvement in Bangladesh began in 1970 assisting the then cyclone victims and supporting the people of Bangladesh during the Liberation War in 1971. For their work in 1971 Oxfam was one of only three organizations honored as a Friend of the Bangladesh Liberation War in 2012.
