State Minister for Health vows collective efforts to eliminate blindness

Bangladesh’s commitment to international efforts to eradicate blindness was reiterated by State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M A Muhit, who emphasized the necessity of coordinated action among stakeholders worldwide.

He said this while attending a three-day “World Eye Conference” in Bangkok, Thailand, which aimed to improve eye health worldwide and prevent visual impairment.

The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), a prominent international platform made up of countries and international donor organizations, organized the meeting.

A five-member Bangladesh delegation, led by Dr. Muhit, took part in the conference held from March 31 to April 2.

During the event, the State Minister presented a keynote paper and called for strengthened collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure sustainable progress in global eye health. 

He also reiterated Bangladesh’s strong commitment to supporting international initiatives in this sector.

The delegation highlighted the country’s achievements in expanding eye care services and outlined various initiatives undertaken to improve access and quality in the field.
