186 Bangladeshis return home after Iran evacuation

On a special Biman flight, 186 Bangladeshi nationals who were evacuated from conflict-ridden Iran left Baku today and are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka early tomorrow.

According to a news release from the foreign ministry here this evening, the refugees traveled by land across the Iran-Azerbaijan border before boarding the special flight run by Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Baku, Azerbaijan.

On March 21, they are expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka about 1:30 a.m.

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, as well as the Bangladeshi missions in Tehran, Ankara, New Delhi, and Geneva, assisted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in organizing the evacuation.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines facilitated the emergency repatriation flight.
The government expressed deep appreciation to the governments of Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), for their cooperation in ensuring the safe return of the nationals.
