Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen today informed Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman about the upcoming visit of Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong to Bangladesh on April 2-3 to lead Beijing’s delegation to the 14th Bangladesh-China Diplomatic Consultations.
According to an official statement, the envoy shared the information with the foreign minister during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka this morning.
Humaiun Kobir, the prime minister’s foreign policy adviser, was also present.
During the talks, the Chinese ambassador briefed the foreign minister about preparations for the 14th Bangladesh-China Diplomatic Consultations, which are expected to review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The consultations will also explore new avenues for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, officials said.
During the visit, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong is also expected to hold meetings with high-level dignitaries in Bangladesh.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman acknowledged China’s longstanding support and contribution to Bangladesh’s development journey and expressed hope that the upcoming visit would provide fresh momentum to Bangladesh-China bilateral relations following the formation of the new government.
