AFP correspondents reported that angry Iraqi demonstrators and security personnel engaged in combat on Saturday night close to the US embassy in Baghdad.
Security officers used tear gas to repel protesters who attempted to storm the US embassy in Baghdad’s Green Zone. They made two attempts to infiltrate the region on Saturday.
Prior to this, the US embassy had issued a warning that protests outside its property “may turn violent.”
