The Dhaka-Sylhet-Manchester flight has been temporarily halted due to the transportation of Hajj pilgrims, according to Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury today.
“The number of flights on other routes has also been reduced. Flights on the Manchester route will resume after the completion of Hajj operations,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at an iftar and reception organized by the Sylhet District Bar Association.
The government is dedicated to meeting people’s expectations, according to Ariful, who is also the minister of labor and employment. “Over the next five years, the government will work tirelessly every day to meet those expectations with the hope and trust that brought it to power,” he said.
According to the minister, the government is committed to providing hassle-free services for travelers from other countries.
He said that senior ministry representatives will meet next Sunday to discuss the current issues at the airport.
According to him, concerned officials will carry out on-site inspections to find the problems and take swift, practical action to fix them.
He said not only in Sylhet but at all airports across the country, maximum facilities for expatriate passengers will be ensured gradually.
President of the Sylhet District Bar Association Golam Yahya Chowdhury Suhel chaired the programme while General Secretary of Sylhet District unit of BNP Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, MP, attended it as special guest. Officials from various government departments and leaders of the Bar Association were also present.
