AZM Zahid Hossain, the recently appointed Minister of Women and Children Affairs, stated today that the BNP promised to support the advancement of women and children in its election manifesto.
“We have to work beyond traditional lines. Some changes may be needed in the existing policies. Everything will depend on the government’s budget and the ministry’s capacity to implement programmes,” he said.
At a meeting in the ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat here, AZM Zahid made the comments while discussing them with ministry officials.
Farzana Sharmin, the State Minister, was also there.
In order to carry out the mandate of the people, the minister stated his resolve to advance the ministry via collaboration.
State Minister Farzana Sharmin said, “We need to adopt a proper and effective plan for the development of two-thirds of the country’s population. Development projects should not remain confined to paper; they must be implemented in a way that brings tangible benefits to the people. We have to work with a clear vision to build the future of women and children through the proper use of limited resources.”
She added, “We must ensure the proper utilisation of resources, prevent wastage, and gain people’s trust by identifying their real problems and ensuring effective solutions.”
She expressed optimism that the ministry will become a successful organization dedicated to the advancement of women and children through collaborative efforts.
Momtaz Ahmed, the ministry’s senior secretary, was in attendance, as were representatives and leaders of the ministry’s several departments and organizations.
At the gathering, a documentary about the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs’ operations and current development initiatives was shown.
