APCs, RATs deployed, K-9 Unit intensifies security across capital ahead of nat’l polls

Authorities have placed Rapid Action Teams (RATs) and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) in strategic parts of the capital as part of a massive security operation in advance of tomorrow’s 13th general elections.

To protect the people and uphold law and order, patrol units were spotted in Bijoy Saroni, Shahbagh, Baitul Mukarram, Bangla Motor, and Wari.

According to a BGB news statement, there have been reports of the obvious presence of heavily armed patrol units in government zones, important crossroads, and other sensitive areas.

Officials stated that the measures are precautionary, aimed at deterring potential disruptions and providing rapid response capabilities during the election period.

In addition to the ground patrols, the BGB has launched coordinated search operations with its specialized K-9 Unit Dog Squad.

The trained canine teams are conducting thorough sweeps in strategic areas, including transportation hubs, public gathering points, and areas identified as high-risk.

Security officials emphasized that the operations are part of a broader nationwide security plan designed to ensure a peaceful and orderly voting process.

The force’s priority is to guarantee that citizens can exercise their democratic rights without fear, officials familiar with the process said.

Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activity.

While the enhanced measures have increased security visibility in the capital, officials reassured the public that the actions are preventive and intended to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

The national election and referendum are scheduled to take place amid heightened security arrangements across the country tomorrow.
