9 individuals, one music band to get Ekushey Padak-2026

Nine distinguished persons and one musical group have been named by the government as recipients of the esteemed Ekushey Padak-2026, the nation’s second-highest civilian honor, for their exceptional contributions to a variety of professions.

At a press briefing, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam revealed the recipients’ names, stating that the nominees’ names were decided upon today at a meeting chaired by Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.

He was addressing the briefing at the Foreign Service Academy here this afternoon to share outcomes of the weekly meeting of the Council of Advisers at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO) in the morning. Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus chaired the meeting.

The recipients of the Ekushey Padak 2026 are: Farida Akhtar Babita (Film), Professor Md Abdus Sattar (Fine Arts), Marina Tabassum (Architecture), Ayub Bachchu (Music), Arthy Ahmed (Dance), Islam Uddin Palakar (Theatre), Shafik Rehman (Journalism), Professor Dr Mahbubul Alam Majumdar (Education), Tejosh Haldar Josh (Sculpture) and Warfaze (Music Band).

For the first time in the nation’s history, a rock band has been nominated for a national award with the Warfaze.

Every year, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs bestows awards in many categories to recognize individuals and organizations for their exceptional contributions to various sectors.
