Technology aims to ease lives, reduce inequality: CA

Chief Advisor Prof. Muhammad Yunus stated today that technology’s primary goals are to improve people’s lives, open up new opportunities, and lessen social injustice in addition to increasing production.

“The current interim government has taken various initiatives in the technology sector,” he said, adding that ordinances have been formulated to expand the country’s digital public infrastructure, establish a strong data governance framework and ensure cybersecurity, including the protection of personal data.

He said this in a statement about the Digital Device and Innovation Expo 2026 (DDIExpo 2026), which will begin on January 28 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in the capital.

The ICT Division, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) are collaborating to organize the four-day exhibition with the theme “Bangladesh to the World.” It will run until January 31.

Prof. Yunus described the theme as relevant and current, saying it shows Bangladesh’s strong resolve to change from a country that uses technology to one that is a producer, inventor, and global partner.

“I am happy to know that the Information and Communication Technology Division is organising the ‘Digital Device and Innovation Expo-2026’ on January 28-30. I congratulate all those concerned for taking this timely initiative,” he said.

The Chief Adviser said that alongside building a technology-enabled ecosystem, the government’s initiatives are helping create a safe, transparent and investment-friendly environment, thereby accelerating technology-based industrialisation and encouraging innovation.

These efforts, he said, will connect the creative potential of young entrepreneurs with the global market.

Prof Yunus wished overall success of all programmes of the DDIExpo 2026.
