CHT peace accord implementation stressed

Attendees of today’s Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee meeting emphasized how urgently the CHT Peace Accord must be fully and successfully implemented.

According to a press statement issued today, the committee’s convener, Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain, presided over the meeting, which took place in the conference room of the Complex Building next to the Karnaphuli Tunnel Site Office Toll Plaza in Anwara, Chattogram.

Among those present were Adviser for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Supradip Chakma, Chairman of the CHT Regional Council Jyotirindra Bodhipriya (Santu) Larma, Refugee Affairs Task Force Chairman (Senior Secretary) Sudatta Chakma, Secretary Mohammed Mizanur Rahman and Additional Secretary Md. Monirul Islam of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, along with other officials concerned.

During the meeting, speakers reiterated the importance of ensuring the full implementation of the CHT Peace Accord to promote lasting peace, stability and development in the region.

On January 12, 2025, the government reorganized the CHT Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee.

CHT Regional Council Chairman Jyotirindra Bodhipriya (Santu) Larma and Refugee Affairs Task Force Chairman Sudatta Chakma are members of the committee, which is now led by Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain.

After holding its first meeting in Rangamati on July 19 of last year, this was the committee’s second meeting under the interim administration.
