According to a senior official who spoke to AFP on Saturday, US President Donald Trump has invited Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to join a board to oversee post-war Gaza. Carney plans to accept the invitation.
Trump has proclaimed himself to be the head of the Gaza “Board of Peace.” He has so far requested the leaders of Egypt, Turkey, and Argentina to participate and appointed former UK prime minister Tony Blair and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to high positions.
The senior official from the Canadian government did not offer any additional information.
