Interim govt to hand over powWer thru fair polls: Supradip

Supradip Chakma, the affairs adviser for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), stated today that a peaceful and transparent election will be used to transfer authority from the interim government to an elected one.

“The interim government is moving firmly towards holding a free, fair and credible national election. It will hand over the power to an elected government within the next two months through a peaceful and transparent election,” he said.

The adviser made the remarks while attending the second day of the national cremation ceremony of the late most venerable Tilokananda Mahathero at Baghaichhari in Rangamati.

Thousands of devotees paid their last respects to Tilokananda Mahathero at the Shakyamuni Buddhist Monastery during the three-day-long religious programme.

Supradip said the late Tilokananda Mahathero had spread the light of education across the Chattogram Hill Tracts and urged all to preserve his legacy.

The final rites of Tilokananda Mahathero are scheduled to be held this afternoon.
