A request to hire consultants for the ongoing Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply (DESWS) project, which is being carried out by the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Dhaka WASA), was approved in principle by the Advisory Council Committee on Economic Affairs today.
One proposal from the Local Government Division was presented and debated during the committee’s 40th meeting of the year, which took place today in the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat. This meeting resulted in the approval. The conference was chaired by Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, a finance advisor.
The approved proposal states that Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG, an international consulting business with headquarters in Germany, will be hired as part of the project’s Management, Design, and Supervision Consultant (MDSC) package. In accordance with the Public Procurement Rules (PPR) 2025, the consulting services will be acquired using the Single Source Selection (SSS) approach.
The planned 24-month consultation period will run from September 2025 until August 2027.
Following a thorough debate, the committee recommended that the request be approved in principle, opening the door for ongoing technical and oversight assistance for Dhaka’s environmentally friendly water supply project.
The DESWS project seeks to improve the capital city’s sustainable water supply infrastructure while guaranteeing long-term resilience and environmental preservation.
