Canadian envoy praises armed forces role in democratic transition

Today, while meeting with the chiefs of the air force and navy, Canadian High Commissioner Ajit Singh expressed gratitude to Bangladesh’s armed forces for their positive contribution in preserving stability and facilitating a peaceful transition toward a democratically elected administration.

“He (envoy) thanked Bangladesh’s Armed Forces for the positive role they have played in maintaining stability towards a peaceful transition towards a democratically elected government,” read a statement issued by the Canadian high commission here today.

During separate meetings with Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan and Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Singh discussed ongoing defence cooperation and prospects for expanding bilateral engagements.

The High Commission claims that their talks centered on common priorities like capacity building, training, and bolstering the two nations’ defense industry relations.

Singh emphasized the sophisticated capabilities of Canada’s defese, maritime, and aerospace industries, pointing out that their services and technologies support modernization, safety, and improved interoperability for international partners.

Preparations for the next national election, which is anticipated to be the biggest in the nation’s history, were also discussed with the two chiefs.

The statement read, “Canada appreciates Bangladesh’s important contributions to global peace and security and looks forward to expanding engagement with Bangladesh’s defense institutions, including exploring opportunities for collaboration with reputable Canadian industry partners.”
