World-renowned Polish garment brand LPP S.A. has expressed considerable interest in significantly boosting its apparel sourcing from Bangladesh.
Joanna Sikorska, the company’s procurement director, expressed this desire to Mahmud Hasan Khan, the president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), today.
The meeting was held at the BGMEA office in Uttara, where BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Haque Khan, Vice President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman, Director Shah Raid Chowdhury, Director Md. Hasib Uddin, Director Nafis-ud-Doula, and Director Zowardar Mohammad Hosne Komar Alam were present.
During the discussion, LPP S.A. expressed a clear intention to enhance sourcing from Bangladesh, particularly for products such as outerwear, heavy knit, men’s underwear, and joggers, and to work closely with BGMEA in this regard, said a press release.
The summit also focused on strengthening long-term alliances, guaranteeing supply chain stability and transparency, and expanding Bangladesh’s garment industry’s capabilities. Both sides also discussed generating direct export prospects by on boarding small and medium companies (SMEs) into the RSC.
It is significant that LPP S.A. currently sources clothes worth US$770 million annually from Bangladesh and considers the country its largest sourcing hub, keeping Bangladesh at the top of their preferred list.
LPP S.A. Procurement Director Joanna Sikorska said, “Bangladesh is an extremely important sourcing hub for us. We are keen to strengthen our business base here and will continue working to maintain stability in our supply chain.”
She also reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and responsible business practices in Bangladesh’s apparel industry.
Mahmud Hasan Khan, President of BGMEA, asked the Polish company to expand its Bangladeshi sourcing. “LPP S.A. is a very significant buyer for Bangladesh’s apparel industry,” he stated. We believe both sides will gain from extending their procurement from Bangladesh and creating long-term relationships with suppliers. Bangladesh’s clothing sector is dedicated to fulfilling all consumer demands for quality and compliance.
Both parties agreed on the need of creating strong mutual understanding and long-term strategic engagement between LPP S.A. and Bangladeshi suppliers.
