France sees strong potential for Bangladesh to attract European investment

According to Jean-Marc Sánchez-Charlet, the French ambassador to Bangladesh, the European Union believes Bangladesh has great potential to draw far larger amounts of European capital and investment.

He highlighted the need to maintain ongoing changes to strengthen the business climate.

The ambassador reiterated Europe’s willingness to increase economic engagement with Bangladesh during a high-level discussion on business climate that was jointly organized by the European Union (EU) and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on December 1 in Dhaka.

“We want to do more, and we strongly believe that Bangladesh can attract much more European investment and capital,” he said, according to a statement issued by the French Embassy today.

The dialogue brought together EU ambassadors, senior government officials and leading European businesses for discussions on trade, investment and regulatory improvements.

Ambassador Séré-Charlet highlighted the value of long-term partnerships between Europe and Bangladesh, noting the “untapped potential” for trade and foreign direct investment.

He also welcomed BIDA’s recent reform measures aimed at improving the investment ecosystem. “The key now is to sustain this reform momentum, strengthen regulatory clarity and ensure policy continuity and stability,” he added.
