While on a two-day state visit to Bangladesh, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay inquired about the health of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, according to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today.
Speaking to reporters following a courtesy visit with the Bhutanese prime at the Hotel InterContinental in the capital, Fakhrul said discussions also addressed several subjects of mutual interest, including trade, commerce and energy cooperation between the two nations.
He added the Bhutanese Prime Minister sent a bouquet of flowers for Begum Khaleda Zia as a gesture of goodwill.
Fakhrul further said that Bhutan hopes Bangladesh will hold a fair and impartial election, noting that “Bhutan will work with whichever government assumes power.”
Shama Obaid, the organizing secretary, and Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, were also present.
