Armed Forces Day observed in Seoul

Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul celebrated the Bangladesh Armed Forces Day 2025 with due solemnity, highlighting the forces’ valour in the Liberation War and their contributions to global peace and nation-building.

According to a press release received here today, the Embassy hosted a reception at a local hotel on November 21, attended by representatives from the Korean Defence Ministry, senior military officials, diplomats, and defence attaches from missions accredited to the Republic of Korea.

Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil and Defence Attache Air Commodore A T M Habibur Rahman welcomed the guests.

The programme began with the national anthems of Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea, followed by the screening of a short documentary on the activities of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.

In his briefing, Defence Attache Rahman recalled the valiant role of Bangladesh’s armed forces during the 1971 Liberation War and underscored their contributions in nation-building, disaster management, and internal security.

Ambassador Shatil paid deep homage to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for Bangladesh’s independence and for global peace over the past 54 years. 

He highlighted Bangladesh’s peace-centric foreign policy and the armed forces’ strong reputation in UN peacekeeping missions, earned through professionalism, discipline and empathy.

The envoy also noted the excellent bilateral relations and expanding defence cooperation between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea.

The event concluded with a commemorative cake-cutting ceremony, followed by a buffet featuring Bangladeshi and Korean delicacies.
