Khandker Masudul Alam, Bangladesh’s non-resident ambassador to Luxembourg, delivered his Letters of Credence to Grand Duke Guillaume V in Luxembourg City, emphasizing Bangladesh’s dedication to enhancing bilateral relations and growing cooperation in trade, finance, investment, and climate-related cooperation.
According to a news release obtained here, Bangladesh’s non-resident ambassador formally submitted his credentials at the Grand Ducal Palace in a ceremony carried out with complete diplomatic courtesies.
The occasion was attended by the Marshal of the Court, high-ranking members of the Luxembourg Royal Household, the Ambassador’s spouse, and representatives from the Bangladeshi Embassy in Brussels.
His Royal Highness the Grand Duke met with the Ambassador formally after the ceremony. Ambassador Alam began by extending the President and Chief Advisor of the Government of Bangladesh’s cordial greetings and best wishes.
A wide range of bilateral topics were discussed, such as trade growth, financial sector cooperation, increasing Luxembourg’s investment in Bangladesh, environmental and climate change cooperation, the conclusion of a double taxation avoidance agreement, and the potential for direct air connectivity between the two nations.
The Grand Duke reiterated that Luxembourg, like Bangladesh, places a high value on deepening bilateral ties.
The Grand Duke expressed his personal commitment to carrying on the work started by his mother, Maria Teresa, especially in the areas of microcredit and poverty alleviation, while reminiscing about past encounters between himself and his family and Professor Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh’s chief adviser.
Ambassador Alam invited His Royal Highness to visit Bangladesh soon on behalf of the country’s president and chief advisor.
