Thitiporn Chirasawadi, the recently appointed Thai ambassador to Bangladesh, has reiterated her dedication to advancing economic cooperation that strengthens interpersonal relationships and mutual understanding while producing real advantages for both countries.
Ambassador Chirasawadi described Bangladesh as “an emerging economy with a proud history, vibrant culture, and resilient spirit” and expressed profound appreciation for the country’s rapid growth and sense of national identity in a statement released upon taking office in Dhaka.
She said Bangladesh holds growing strategic importance for Thailand, citing strong economic potential and cultural affinity between the two South and Southeast Asian neighbours.
“Our countries share a vital geographical link through the Bay of Bengal, serving as gateways to wider regional connectivity,” she noted.
Highlighting bilateral progress, the envoy said Bangladesh has become one of Thailand’s key partners in South Asia, with trade expanding steadily in recent years.
Both countries, she continued, have “deep values rooted in community, hospitality, and resilience,” which offer a solid basis for expanding understanding.
The ambassador highlighted Thailand’s dedication to promoting connectivity, economic integration, and sustainable development under Bangladesh’s forthcoming chairmanship from 2025 to 2027, given that both nations are active members of BIMSTEC.
Ambassador Chirasawadi, who served in the area from 2000 to 2001, said she is honored to be returning to South Asia, which she described as a friendly and culturally rich region.
She reiterated her resolve to further strengthen the friendship, goodwill, and cooperation between Thailand and Bangladesh in the years ahead.
