Argentine peso soars versus dollar after Milei vote win

Following President Javier Milei’s landslide victory in Argentina’s midterm elections, the Argentine peso surged against the dollar on Monday.

The value of the Argentine peso rose by almost 3% to 1,448.30 pesos to the dollar after first rising by about 10%, according to Bloomberg.

Milei declared that his party’s landslide win in Sunday’s midterm elections marked a “turning point” for the nation and promised to push through his plan of deregulating the economy and downsizing the government.
