Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat stated today that there is currently no need for alarm or concern in relation to the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
He told reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, the capital, that there is now no cause for alarm or worry.
“It is not necessary that everything be completed exactly as per the EC’s initial plan,” Akhtar Ahmed stated in reference to the preparations. Various modifications are made based on the circumstances.
“Some tasks have already been completed, while others are still in progress and will take a bit more time. Not every activity can be scheduled or executed strictly according to fixed dates and times,” he said.
The list of polling places has been finalized, he said. He also stated that the final list of polling places and the political party registration would be finished this week.
“We are receiving information from the field about party registrations, which are currently being reviewed,” he stated in reference to new party registration. With any luck, we’ll finish the procedure this week.
“BNP has sent a letter expressing its objection over the RPO issue,” Akhtar Ahmed remarked in reference to the party’s letter of complaint to the revision to the Representation of the People Order (RPO). On this issue, the Commission will make a decision.
