Children Act 2013 should be amended to protect children: Sharmin

Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid today said the Children Act 2013 requires amendments to protect children, reports BSS.

“Children should be turned into human resources,” she said while addressing a workshop titled ‘Children’s Act 2013: Doubts, Confusion and Inconsistencies’ organized by the Law Commission and UNICEF Bangladesh at a hotel in the city.

According to the advisor, everyone has a moral and social obligation to protect and nurture children, not only the government. “If we can develop today’s children into self-reliant and good citizens then the future will also develop beautifully,” she stated.

As special guests, UNICEF Bangladesh Country Representative Rana Flowers and Law Commission Chairman Justice Zinat Ara spoke at the program.
