Pakistani envoy meets Food Adviser

Ali Imam Majumder, the Food and Land Adviser, met with Imran Haider, the recently appointed Pakistani High Commission to Bangladesh, today in his secretariat office.

According to a press statement, topics pertaining to bilateral interests, such as the import of rice from Pakistan, were covered during the discussion.

It is noteworthy that on January 14 of this year, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to import 200,000 metric tons of rice from Pakistan on a G2G basis.

During the present interim government, cargo ships have started arriving directly from Pakistan’s Karachi port to Chattogram port, the food adviser added, emphasizing regional interconnectedness. He noted that this has led to an increase in trade between the two nations.

In the past, a third country was used to import Pakistani goods into Bangladesh, which added time and expense.

In addition to thanking the advisor, the Pakistani High Commissioner expressed hope that trade and collaboration between the two friendly nations would grow for the benefit of both nations’ citizens.

Among those attending the conference were Pakistan’s Political Consul in Bangladesh, Kamran Dangal, and Food Secretary Md. Masudul Hasan.
