Islamic Book Fair begins at Baitul Mukarram tomorrow

Tomorrow marks the start of the month-long ‘Islamic Book Fair’ on the grounds of the city’s Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

According to a press release, Dr. A F M Khalid Hossain, the Religious Affairs Advisor, will be the main guest at the book fair’s opening at 4:45 p.m., following Asr prayers.

The event will be presided over by A. Salam Khan, Director General of the Islamic Foundation, with special guest AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik, Religious Affairs Secretary.

The Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s east and south plazas will host the book fair. It will go on until October 12.

The organizers said that the fair will be open for all from 11 am to 10 pm every day. On holidays, the fair will run from 10 am to 10 pm.

There are about 150 stalls at the fair. In addition, at least five international stalls from Egypt, Lebanon and Pakistan are participating in this year’s book fair.

The fair will offer basic and research-based books on various topics of Islam, including translations of the Holy Quran, Tafsir and Hadith books.

Additionally, writers, readers, and publishers will participate in daily Islamic cultural performances, debate sessions, and book launching ceremonies.

There will be separate seats for ladies, a media section, an information center, and a children’s area.

All books produced at the Islamic Foundation’s stalls and in the divisional and district offices will be subject to a 40–70% commission during the month-long book fair.
