In order to promote regional peace, prosperity, and sustainable progress, Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Nina P. Cainglet today urged the opening of new channels for collaboration between Bangladesh and the Philippines.
She was giving the keynote talk at a country lecture at the capital’s Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) auditorium titled “Beyond Bilateral Ties: Unlocking New Avenues in Bangladesh-Philippines Cooperation.”
Ambassador Cainglet emphasized that the two countries have enormous potential to improve cooperation in areas like energy, agriculture, and education since they are united by similar values and development goals.
“Enhanced bilateral engagement will not only benefit our peoples but also contribute to regional stability and inclusive growth,” she added.
The ambassador emphasized the value of expanding collaborations outside of conventional domains and urged governments and the business sector to take advantage of trade, investment, and innovation opportunities.
While Professor Dr. Delwar Hossain of the University of Dhaka established the program’s tone by outlining the historical foundations of Bangladesh-Philippines relations, BIISS Director General Major General Iftekhar Anis gave the welcome address.
He urged greater collaboration in people-to-people relations, economic diplomacy, and marine issues in light of the shifting Indo-Pacific geopolitical landscape.
Ambassador Md. Ruhul Alam Siddique, the former acting foreign secretary of Bangladesh, chaired the discussion.
Following the talk, there was an open debate during which senior government representatives, diplomats, academics, media representatives, researchers, and students shared their perspectives and useful recommendations for strengthening ties between the Philippines and Bangladesh.
