No army in students’ union polls: ISPR

Regarding the reports on the army’s deployment to the impending central students’ unions at various universities that have appeared in various mass media and social media, the Bangladesh Army has provided clarification today.

According to an ISPR press statement, the army has just become aware of this type of news regarding army deployment.

“The government has not given any instruction to the Bangladesh Army to perform duties in the upcoming central students’ union polls of the universities and there is no scope to be involved in any such duties in future,” ISPR said.

“Bangladesh Army believes that the upcoming Central Students’ Union elections will be held peacefully in a festive mood with the direct cooperation of the existing law enforcement agencies and the overall supervision of the respective university administrations,” it said.

Good wishes were sent by the Bangladesh Army to everyone participating in the Central Students Union elections.
