According to Sharmeen S. Murshid, adviser for women’s and children’s affairs and social welfare, the general public needs to band together and create resistance to unauthorized sand extractors.
The advisor made this statement while touring regions impacted by river erosion and participating in a gathering to share opinions in her hometown of Nasirabad, which is located in the Brahmanbaria district’s Nabinagar upazila.
Sharmeen stated that the general public must band together and oppose the sand lifters since the government cannot prevent unlawful sand lifting on its own.
The Adviser also asked the local administration to take necessary steps to stop illegal sand lifting in the areas and thus save homes, croplands, and livelihoods of people there.

Replying to a question from a journalist, Sharmeen termed cyber crime as a problem and thus suggested the youth folk to become skilled in the IT sector to combat it.
