Fresh Anonna “I Am My Own Protector” Workshop Empowers Women

The Women’s Federation for World Peace, Bangladesh (WFWP) and GoGirl, two organizations long dedicated to improving women’s health, social security, economic independence, and nutrition across all levels of society, have launched a new initiative to address the challenges women face in their daily lives.

In response to the significant obstacles and safety concerns that often hinder women’s personal and professional growth, WFWP and GoGirl have partnered with Fresh Ananya Sanitary Napkins, a flagship brand of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), to introduce a new project titled “I Am My Own Protector.” This initiative will focus on enhancing the personal and social security of women in schools, colleges, universities, and workplaces across Bangladesh.

As part of this new project, an inaugural half-day awareness session was held for 100 female garment workers at Tarashima Garments. The session featured renowned experts who covered essential topics for women’s empowerment and well-being. Discussions included personal and menstrual hygiene, food and nutrition, self-defense, social respect and conduct, and fundamental banking and legal rights.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Mehrin Mahmud, President of WFWP; Israt Jahan, Brand Manager at Meghna Group of Industries; and senior officials from Tarashima Garments. The awareness session was led by a panel of experts:

  • Dr. Ipshita Ibrahim Ridita, Lecturer and Public Health & Communication Specialist at Gono Bishwabidyalay
  • Nurunnahaar Mitu, Taekwondo Expert
  • Dr. Mahfuz Ehsan, Physical Therapy and Mental Health Consultant

The organizers stated that this event marks the beginning of a journey to empower women in every district of the country. They hope that the success of this workshop will inspire similar events in even more remote regions of Bangladesh.
