Bangla-Sino cultural bond to create new dynamism in relation: Farooki

Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki stated today that the cultural bond between Bangladesh and China is poised to create a new dynamism in the bilateral relations between the two nations. The adviser’s remarks were made at a press conference organized at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka to mark a special drone training program.

Farooki highlighted the growing popularity of drone shows in Bangladesh, a medium he described as “a new medium for telling stories” and a “fusion of technology and art.” He noted that six recent drone shows, organized with support from China, have been “immensely popularized among the young generation,” demonstrating the potential of this new art form.

As part of the ongoing cultural exchange, Farooki announced that two separate delegations from Bangladesh will soon travel to China for specialized training. A 15-member delegation is set to receive training on preserving artworks, with the goal of returning to Bangladesh and imparting their knowledge to others. Additionally, another team will travel to Shanghai and Guangzhou for a month-long training program focused on museum development, with financial assistance from the Chinese government.

The Cultural Affairs Adviser expressed his hope that these initiatives will open a new door for cooperation between Bangladesh’s Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Chinese government, particularly in the preservation of cultural heritage and the expansion of both traditional and new media.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, who was present at the press conference, echoed these sentiments, stating that China is ready to provide all possible cooperation to Bangladesh, especially in the economic and cultural fields. He noted that the special drone show, which lit up the Dhaka sky to mark the “36 July Celebration,” was an excellent performance that opened a new chapter of economic and cultural exchange through technology and knowledge sharing.

The deepening cultural ties are part of a broader strengthening of the Bangladesh-China relationship, with 2025 marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
