Dhaka, Bangladesh – The Bangladesh Army today issued a strong clarification that Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman does not maintain any personal profile or account on Facebook or any other social media platform, and has no intention of doing so in the future.
In an official statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, it was noted that several fake social media profiles have recently been created using the name and image of the Army Chief. These fraudulent accounts are being used to circulate misleading and false information.
“The Army Chief does not have any personal account on social media and there is no plan to operate one in the future,” the ISPR stated unequivocally.
The ISPR urged the public and media to exercise caution and not be misled by any content or claims made on these fake accounts. The press release also confirmed that efforts are underway to identify those responsible for creating and operating the fraudulent profiles, with necessary legal action to be taken against them.
