Israel’s deliberate murder of six journalists in Gaza was denounced by the UN human rights agency on Monday as a “severe violation of international humanitarian law.”
“Israel must respect and protect all civilians, including journalists,” Volker Turk’s office, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated on X. It further stated that since the October 2023 war in the Palestinian territory was triggered by Hamas strikes on Israel, at least 242 Palestinian journalists have lost their lives in Gaza.
