Biman aircraft first to use HSIA’s 3rd terminal boarding bridge

Today, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines achieved a significant operational milestone by becoming the first aircraft to utilize the Passenger Boarding Bridge and Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) at HSIA’s new Terminal 3.

In a statement posted here, Biman stated that Captain Ishtiaque Hossain was in command of the plane, which was flying as Flight BG-356 out of Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Rome, with First Officer Tahsin serving as co-pilot.

Several systems at Terminal 3 were thoroughly tested during the trial operation, which took place between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm after passengers disembarked.

These included the VDGS, boarding bridge-mounted external power and air-conditioning systems, and water supply connectivity to the aircraft, Biman said.

Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Member (Operations & Planning) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), was present on the occasion.

“This marks a critical step forward in enhancing the operational readiness and service capabilities of Terminal 3,” CAAB officials said.

A contemporary device called the Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) helps pilots park aircraft exactly at the appropriate gates.

By offering real-time visual indications, it lessens the need for ground personnel and lowers the possibility of misalignment or unintentional accidents with ground apparatus.
