Baitul Mukarram to hold doa, munazat for July Uprising martyrs

A complete recitation of the Holy Quran and a special ‘doa’ (prayer) will be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 11:00 AM tomorrow, Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The event will seek eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs of the July Uprising and the swift recovery of those who were injured.

In a broader call for national remembrance, the Islamic Foundation has specifically requested all concerned individuals and organizations, including khatibs, imams, and mosque committees across the country, to organize similar doa and munajat (special supplications) in all mosques. This initiative is to honor the memory of those who lost their lives and to pray for the well-being of the injured in the historic movement.

The July Uprising, which took place in 2024, resulted in significant casualties as students and ordinary citizens took to the streets in a mass movement that ultimately led to a change in government. The interim government and various organizations have since declared July Martyrs’ Day to commemorate the victims and their sacrifices. The government has also taken initiatives to provide welfare and rehabilitation support for the families of the martyrs and the injured. This includes publishing an official gazette listing the martyrs and establishing a special directorate to manage support for those impacted by the uprising.
