US, Bangladesh conclude joint military exercise to boost defence ties

The joint military exercise Tiger Shark, which sought to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation and improve regional security within the Indo-Pacific context, was successfully completed by the United States and Bangladesh.

According to a US media note released here today, the exercise, which was closely coordinated between the Bangladesh Armed Forces and the US Indo-Pacific Command, included a variety of integrated training activities, including medical response, joint patrolling, marksmanship, close-quarters combat, swimming and diving, and tactical simulations.

“This joint military exercise reaffirms our commitment to a safer, stronger and more prosperous Indo-Pacific. It also symbolizes the strong U.S.-Bangladesh partnership,” said U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Tracey Jacobson.

The exercise, which brought together military personnel from both countries, also included subject matter expert exchanges and joint planning sessions to enhance operational interoperability and readiness to face evolving regional challenges.

According to the US embassy, the Tiger Shark exercise demonstrates both countries’ unwavering dedication to peace, stability, and an orderly system in the Indo-Pacific area.

The Embassy claims that these interactions help to improve the two military forces’ mutual trust and capability and promote a safer marine and regional environment.

In one of the most strategically important areas in the world, the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, which is in charge of American military operations throughout the Asia-Pacific, collaborates with regional allies to maintain peace, thwart aggression, and maintain free sea lanes.
