Saudi Arabia has extended an official invitation to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to attend the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9), a prominent global investment forum, scheduled to be held in Riyadh from October 27-30, 2025.
The invitation from Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman was personally handed over by Saudi Ambassador to Dhaka, Dr. Abdullah Zafer bin Abiyah, to the Chief Adviser during a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
This marks a significant diplomatic milestone, as it is the first time a head of government from Bangladesh has been invited to the annual event since its inception in 2017, as confirmed by Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
The Chief Adviser expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Crown Prince for the invitation and indicated that he would “actively consider” joining the prestigious event.
Furthermore, Chief Adviser Yunus also thanked the Saudi Crown Prince for accepting an invitation to visit Bangladesh. This visit is planned to coincide with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, with a specific date to be determined.
The Future Investment Initiative, often dubbed “Davos in the Desert,” brings together influential global leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators to discuss critical questions defining the global investment landscape. This year’s FII9 will explore the theme “The Key To Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers Of Growth.” The multi-day event will feature a series of exclusive, invitation-only conclaves, global dialogues, and an “Investment Day” focused on deal-making and venture showcases. Professor Yunus’s potential attendance would provide a significant platform for Bangladesh to engage with global investment trends and explore opportunities for further collaboration with Saudi Arabia and other international partners.
