Chinese medical team provides support for burn victims

The visiting Chinese medical team has extended its full support to Bangladesh in treating the victims of last week’s tragic Bangladesh Air Force fighter aircraft crash at Milestone School in Dhaka’s Uttara area.

The team, comprised of specialist doctors and nurses from Wuhan Third Hospital, continued their collaborative efforts today at the Bangladesh Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery. They are offering technical assistance and hands-on support to their Bangladeshi counterparts, the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka stated in a press release.

The Chinese medical professionals provided valuable advice to local medical staff on crucial methods for preventing wound infections and enhancing the routine care of burn and trauma patients. They also actively participated in examining the condition of the injured, assisting in wound cleaning and dressing changes, and providing support during arterial puncture procedures. Additionally, the team offered surgical guidance and expertise to enhance patient care.

In a strong display of international cooperation, the Chinese medical professionals held joint consultations with Bangladeshi doctors, as well as with medical teams from Singapore and India, who are also involved in providing treatment to the victims of the devastating crash. This collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive and coordinated effort in managing the critical injuries sustained.

“The Chinese side is willing to do whatever they can to support and assist the Bangladeshi side in treating the injured,” reaffirmed the Chinese embassy, highlighting their commitment to humanitarian aid in this time of crisis.

The Chinese team, consisting of five burn specialists, arrived in Dhaka on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the request of the interim government of Bangladesh. This follows the tragic incident on Monday, July 21, 2025, when a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed into the school campus, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries, particularly among students. The concerted international medical efforts underscore the severity of the incident and the global solidarity extended to Bangladesh.
