First day of 3-day tariff talks between Bangladesh, US ends

The first day of the second round of three-day tariff talks between Bangladesh and the United States concluded in Washington DC on Wednesday.

According to a message received here this morning, the discussions were extensive, covering nearly all critical aspects of the trade relationships between the two nations.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin led the Bangladesh delegation in Washington DC, while National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on ICT and Telecommunications, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, joined the talks virtually from Dhaka. Senior Commerce Ministry officials were also present at the meeting in the US capital.

On the US side, senior officials from agriculture, energy, commerce, and copyrights agencies participated in the discussions.

Both sides are scheduled to resume their meeting at 9:00 PM Bangladesh time on Thursday, with further talks also slated for Friday.
