The Bangladesh Army is fully prepared to respond to the ongoing flood situation in Feni district. Leveraging lessons learned from last year’s devastating floods, the army has already initiated necessary preparedness measures to provide maximum support, according to a press release issued today by the 33rd Infantry Division at Cumilla Cantonment.
Due to continuous heavy rainfall and the onrush of water from upstream hill regions, low-lying areas in Fulgazi and Parshuram upazilas of Feni district have been inundated, resulting in widespread flooding.
To support rescue and relief operations, tri-shark boats, OBM engines, and life jackets have already been deployed at the army camps in Parshuram and Fulgazi as of today. On Wednesday, a coordination meeting was held between the army and the district’s flood and disaster management committee under the supervision of the Feni Deputy Commissioner. The meeting focused on strategies to address the evolving flood situation.
Additionally, to ensure uninterrupted medical services during emergencies, an army medical team has held a coordination meeting with the Civil Surgeon of Feni district. The Bangladesh Army reaffirmed its commitment to stand beside the people during times of national crisis.
For necessary assistance, citizens are encouraged to contact the Flood Monitoring Cell at the Feni Deputy Commissioner’s office via the following helpline numbers: 01898-444500 and 01336-586693.
