Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain is set to depart Dhaka for Kuala Lumpur tomorrow to participate in the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). This forum aims to foster peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region through dialogue and cooperation.
The ARF meeting will be held on July 10-11 in the Malaysian capital, with the Foreign Affairs Adviser expected to return home on July 12, a senior foreign ministry official informed BSS today.
Bangladesh, which became an official partner of the ARF in 2006, actively engages in this multilateral security forum to advance regional peace, stability, and cooperation. The country was formally admitted to the ARF during the inaugural session of its thirteenth Annual Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur on July 28, 2006.
Established in 1994 following a decision at the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and Post Ministerial Conference in Singapore in 1993, the ARF serves as a crucial platform for various nations to discuss regional security issues and build mutual trust among partners in the Asia-Pacific.
Foreign ministry officials stated that Bangladesh’s participation in the ARF underscores its commitment to regional peace, security, and constructive dialogue, aligning with its broader foreign policy objectives.
