Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman today inaugurated the Bangladesh Army’s Tree Plantation Campaign-2025.
To mark the occasion, the Army Chief formally launched a simultaneous tree plantation program across all cantonments in the country, including Dhaka Cantonment, DOHS, and the Jalshiri Housing Projects. He began by planting a sapling at the Nirjhar residential area of Dhaka Cantonment, according to an ISPR release.
The campaign, themed “Planned Afforestation, Build a Green Bangladesh,” will continue until September 2025. It will involve the planting of fruit-bearing, forest, medicinal, and ornamental trees in all cantonments, training and firing ranges, as well as DOHS and Jalshiri housing areas.
The primary objective of the campaign is to encourage individuals to proactively plant trees, thereby enhancing the country’s forest resources and maintaining ecological balance.
Senior military officers from Army Headquarters and the Logistics Area, along with other army personnel, were present at the event, the release added.
