Oasis fans converge as mega-tour kicks off in UK

Tens of thousands of ecstatic Oasis fans descended upon Cardiff today as the legendary Britpop band kicked off a highly anticipated reunion tour, nearly 16 years after their last performance together. The concert at the Principality Stadium, with its 74,500-seat capacity, in the Welsh capital marks the first of a massive 41-date global tour, which includes stops in the United States, Japan, Australia, and Brazil.

The once-warring brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher, along with their bandmates and supporting UK acts, are set to play in Cardiff on both Friday and Saturday. Following these two initial shows, the band will move on to five highly anticipated hometown gigs in Manchester, commencing on July 11. Further sold-out British and Irish concerts are scheduled for London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, and Dublin’s Croke Park, before the “Oasis Live ’25” tour embarks on its international leg.

“All that matters is how the people in that stadium feel,” Liam Gallagher, 52, posted on social media last week, as months of fervent anticipation reached its climax. Fans have been sharing their immense excitement at the first opportunity to witness Oasis live since 2009—or for some, ever—a prospect long considered remote following one of music’s most acrimonious break-ups. The band’s iconic 1990s gigs are truly the stuff of legend, etched into the memories of a generation.

“The feeling is biblical!” exclaimed Sean Campbell, a 35-year-old fuel tanker driver, to AFP before attending Friday’s opening gig. “I’ve been waiting years for their return. I missed out on going years ago, so this is my first time seeing them live.” The overwhelming turnout and palpable energy in Cardiff underscore the enduring appeal of Oasis and the deep desire of their fanbase to witness the iconic siblings perform together once again.
