Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Adviser for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and Youth and Sports, today highlighted the government’s initiatives to direct Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds towards sports sponsorship.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Mymensingh Divisional Tennis Competition-2025 at the National Tennis Complex in the capital on Friday, Shojib Bhuyain stated, “The government is working on the process of spending a specific part of the CSR fund on the sponsorship of sports. Not only banks but also other corporate institutions that have rules for CSR are working with the high level of the government to make sports mandatory.”
He emphasized that CSR contributions will be vital in supporting the growth and long-term viability of sports across Bangladesh.
The Adviser also elaborated on the government’s ongoing push to decentralize sports activities, explaining that this approach would significantly aid in nurturing talent at the grassroots level.
Furthermore, Shojib Bhuyain announced that the interim government has taken a substantial step towards enhancing sports infrastructure with plans for the establishment of a National Sports Institute. He confirmed that activities to establish this institute are progressing, anticipating that its creation will enable advanced training for promising athletes.
