Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the Adviser for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, today urged the construction of Rabindra University’s permanent campus as nature and eco-friendly, emphasizing that this aspect must be strictly ensured.
During her visit to the proposed site for the permanent campus, located adjacent to Shahjadpur Rabindra Kuthibari, she stated, “There is no scope of denying the necessity of a campus of any university.”
Addressing a public gathering as the chief guest, Adviser Rizwana Hasan underscored the critical importance of ensuring ecological balance, conservation of water reservoirs, and local biodiversity during the campus construction.
She noted that the university’s establishment aligns with Rabindranath Tagore’s literature, philosophy, and affinity for nature, adding that the university’s allocation will be progressively enhanced. “All of us should be hopeful, eyeing to the ground instead of frustrated eyeing to the sky,” she remarked.
“We want the university to familiarize Sirajganj home and abroad more,” Rizwana Hasan continued.
Also present at the event were Dr. Kaium Ara Begum, Member of the Bangladesh Planning Commission; Professor SM Hassan Talukder, Vice-chancellor of Rabindra University; Professor Sumon Kanti Barua, Pro-vice-chancellor; Nazrul Islam, Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner; Faruque Hossain, Superintendent of Police; Mukhlesur Rahman, Additional Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board; and Muhammad Subedar Islam, Conservator of Forest.
Following the event, Adviser Rizwana Hasan inspected the progress of Enayetpur Spur Strengthening works on the bank of the Jamuna River in Chowhali upazila, providing necessary directives to Bangladesh Water Development Board officials.
